Last week, members of the UPM Radiocommunications Group participated in the IEEE CAMA 2025 Conference, an international forum bringing together experts in antennas, measurements, and advanced wireless technologies.
Our group contributed with three presentations delivered by Félix, Fateme, and Iago, showcasing ongoing research in antenna design, mmWave communications, and positioning systems.
Below, each of them shares their personal experience from the event.
Félix – “Experimental Campaign to Demonstrate the Feasibility of BLE Communications for C-ITS”

“This was my first IEEE conference, and it surpassed my expectations. At first, I was very nervous about presenting my paper at IEEE CAMA—people had high expectations, and I felt the pressure. After attending the first sessions, I realized how diverse the speakers were: some nervous, some relaxed, some very experienced. Younger engineers tended to be more nervous than senior ones, and that helped me put things into perspective.
As the day went on, my nerves eased. Lunchtime conversations with other engineers made me realize that they were just people like me—willing to share their work and learn from others. By the time I reached my session, I was excited rather than anxious.
The presentation went smoothly, the questions were engaging, and the entire experience was extremely rewarding. It contributed greatly to my personal and professional growth.“
Fateme – “Compact Dual-Band Bidirectional Dielectric Resonator Antenna for 5G NR-DC and ISAC”

“Attending the IEEE CAMA Conference in France was a significant opportunity for professional growth. I presented my work on a compact dual-band bidirectional DRA and had the chance to interact with many accomplished experts in antenna design.
As someone whose research focuses on advanced antenna structures, the conference gave me valuable insights and new ideas—especially discussions related to practical measurement techniques and 5G applications.
This experience broadened my perspective and will undoubtedly strengthen the direction of my future research. I hope to keep improving my designs with the knowledge gained during this conference.“
Iago – “ISAC System with Passive Sensing Techniques Implemented on Top of the SRS 5G Signal”

“Attending IEEE CAMA 2025 was a fascinating and informative experience. Even though many presentations were outside my core research area, I found innovative ideas and well-designed experiments that will definitely help me in the future.
On the final day, I presented our work on precise train position and velocity estimation using 5G. The questions from the audience were insightful and will help guide the next steps of our research.
And, on a personal note, I sincerely hope I never again have to eat semi-raw foie gras.“
